  • The February 15 Issue of the Leisure Arts Newsletter

Just in case you missed it, here’s all the new news that went out in the February 15 Issue of the Leisure Arts Newsletter:

Early in his design career, Shannon Mullett-Bowlsby says, “I had this wonderful realization that, as a designer of hand-stitched garments, I was able to create my own unique fabrics that specifically complimented my original designs. This lightning bolt of revelation has guided me to be fearless when it comes to creating designs and has given me a unique perspective as a crochet designer.” His new Urban Edge fashion book shares some of these design possibilities, including the vibrant green Bangkok Jacket on the front cover. It features a striking Spike-Wedge stitch pattern that enhances the jacket’s asymmetrical lines.

“In the end, I have worked to create a book that includes exciting and versatile designs that are interesting to make and important instructional materials that help you enjoy the process of stitching those designs for yourself,” Shannon says. “I mean c’mon, what is the point of making a garment that doesn’t energize you?” True to his “fearless” style, Shannon encourages stitchers to step up to a challenge. “Even if a pattern is listed at a skill level above your current knowledge, work on the swatch as a way to learn the skills necessary to create the garments. You soon will have the experience needed to make that garment you want.” Urban Edge is Shannon’s newest project book from Leisure Arts; scroll down for more photos and information. Earlier books include And That’s a Wrap! and Heady Affairs, featuring movie-star fabulous wraps and a collection of cool hats.
