With Avengers: Endgame coming out VERY soon, we decided to have a little battle with comic themed crochet in preparation for the premiere. Kristi Simpson has created some adorable crochet superheroes that will make the perfect Rhodey to your Tony Stark. But, be on the lookout! There are some (huggable) monsters lurking in the background when you least expect it. Every superhero has a sworn enemy, and in this post you'll get to see soft superheroes vs cuddly villains, and you can decide for yourself which side you crochet for. Every superhero you see is from Kristi's book Huggable Superheroes, and every monster you see is from Kristi's other book, Huggable Monsters. So after this yarn battle, you get to decide which side you'll join: the heroes or the villains? Let's start the battles!
Atomic Flyers vs Aliens?! You can't get more sci-fi than that. Anton the Atomic Flyer has those aerodynamic glasses to keep him safe as he flies from earth to galaxy, seeking none other than... Alan, the Alien Monster. With those wide set eyes and gray spots on his belly, you can tell he's tried to take over Asgard more than a few times (maybe Loki sent him?). The battle between these two spans across nebulas and dimensions, as one fights to take over earth while the other one protects it.
LEISURE ARTS WINNER: Anton, The Atomic Flyer. We want to keep our hopes up that he can keep all of us safe here on earth from the Alans of the galaxy. But you never know (dun dun dunnn).
This one is a tough call! But we all know that Captain America has been through some epic battles in his (extremely) extended life. Marvin Mega Boy definitely channels his inner Cap when he's out there fighting bad guys like Rusty Robot! He's got that mischievous look in his eye (just the one), and just what is he looking at in the picture above? But to be fair, The Winter Solider was misunderstood, so what's to say that Rusty Robot might not be so rusty? May he's our anti-hero that turns good at the end. Either way, both of these patterns are the bomb.com and would be great little companions for a movie marathon.
LEISURE ARTS WINNER: Rusty Robot. I know, you're probably shocked! But we just think that he has a lot of potential to join the heroes. I mean, look at those adorable feet. Look at them.
We're packing in the girl power with a superstar female heroine by the name of Violet Valiant Heart. She has the strength of Captain Marvel, with the fiery personality of Black Widow. She's breaking gender stereotypes and shattering glass ceilings, and proves that anyone can be anything if they have the drive and determination. I'm not sure how Gigi Girly Monster will stack up against these odds, but maybe there is something in the twirl of her monster hair, or the ruffles in her skirt that will surprise all of us.
LEISURE ARTS WINNER: Violet Valiant Heart. Because hello, have you seen her mask? Although Gigi Girly Monster is a close second.
Who says princesses can't be warriors? Patty Powerful Princess sure shows that you can defeat evil-doers and still keep your tiara on straight. And the Tri-Horned Monster, Theo has a little Tiara of his own! Could it hold a secret power? You'd have to find that out for yourself when you're making him (wink, wink). These guys have gone head to head since the beginning of time, and the battle has ended the same way: they're both extremely adorable. So ultimately, the choice is yours!
LEISURE ARTS WINNER: Patty Powerful Princess. While Theo is adorable and has the cutest little sleeves, we're obsessed with Patty's outfit, Tiara included.
These monsters aren't as scary as Thanos, but they're better than some rusty old infinity gauntlet! I think if these super heroes all assembled and really put their minds to it, we could change the outcome of what happened in Infinity War (please).
Just because we've chosen our own winners, doesn't mean we're right! These are just our personal opinions, and you're allowed to disagree. Which is fine! You are entitled to your (wrong) opinion. That's the fun in all of the variety of Kristi's patterns from both of her wonderful and creative books. Catch up with us on social media @leisureartsinc and show us your favorites! Bonus points if you've crocheted your own hero or super villain! Don't forget to tag us at #LeisureLife for a chance to be featured on our page.
Be sure to check out the trailers for the last installment of the Avengers series, Avengers: Endgame. this is a battle we don't wanna miss! The best part about all of these patterns is that they are easy to follow and they work up quickly, so you could make yourself a hero or villain to take to the premiere! The choice is yours.
Makers, Assemble! (cue theme song)
