I have made so many of these baby blankets. Not one of them looked identical - sometimes I leave off the corner squares (those corners get in the way when wrapping up a baby), sometimes make up with just a solid color which emphasizes the design, any number of color schemes - but always a winner.

I made this afghan the first time 19 years ago and many times since, Grandchildern, friends, now Great grandchildren are popping up and I couldn't find my pattern. Thanks to this computer age I was able to order my favorite missing pattern.

No there's not a misprint. There are no corrections for this pattern. Please remember when working Rnd 9 that you will be working into "sts", which includes dc and chs from Rnd 8; for instance, when instructed at the beginning of Rnd 9 to "hdc in next st, dc in each of next 3 sts", you will be working a hdc in the first dc and will dc into the next 2 dc and in the next ch.
As you will notice from the photograph, Rnd 9 is where the ripple portion of the afghan begins after working the center granny square. On Rnd 10, you will work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the ch-2 sp, which forms the peak of the ripple, then you will work the instructions within [ ] twice; written out, the [ ] instructions will be "dc in each of next 4 sts, sk next 4 sts, dc in each of next 4 sts, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp, dc in each of next 4 sts, sk next 4 sts, dc in each of next 4 sts, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp". Then, you will "dc in each st across to next ch-2 sp" and complete the rnd as instructed by repeating from the * 3 times and ending as instructed before joining.
Hope this helps!

The 1st one I made was in Queen size for our bed in different textures of wool. I have since made it for sofas, college dorm rooms, and LOTS of babies. I have made over 200 in all yarns & textures & weights & colors!!! I think my favorite was the one I made last winter for our new grandson in the colors of his "sea world" rug & bedding!!! I have 2 copies of the book and guard them both. Enjoy!!!

I am so excited that after all these years I have finally found this pattern again (and it's downloadable). I originally purchased the book back in the 70's or 80's. I guess in one of my moves I somehow lost it. I've been looking for the pattern everywhere I go and on-line. Thanks so much for bringing it back. My youngest daughter is now pregnant and I wanted to make something special for her. Thanks again.

I made this afghan when my kids were babies in the '70s and '80s and I made it again when my grandchildren came along. I can't believe it is for sale again and popular as ever!
