Believe it! You CAN Cross Stitch!
Master an age-old art form! Cross stitch is one of the oldest forms of needlework, and yet, despite its great age, it's still incredibly popular with today's stitchers, probably because it's really easy to do. Simply put, cross stitch is no more than stitching X's onto fabric to create a picture. Backstitch can be added for definition, Quarter Stitches to create curves, and French Knots and Lazy Daisy Stitches for special interest. Technically referred to as counted cross stitch, this skill involves counting the squares on a chart and then counting the same number of threads on evenweave fabric to determine where and what to stitch.
In I Can't Believe I'm Cross Stitching, we tell you everything you need to know and then some:
- How to choose your fabric, needles, and floss
- How to read charts and color keys
- And then, we take you step-by-step through the instructions for a basic cross stitch project and through our more advanced (but just as easy) Stitch 'n Paint and Stamp 'n Stitch techniques.
Take a look at some of the projects. With 12 designs to choose from, you're sure to find something to suit your style, be it traditional, trendy, or quick and easy.
