If you're hungry for scrapbooking inspiration, pick up a copy of Scrapbooks etc.® Editors' Favorite Designs. The magazine editors compiled the 57 layouts inside after agreeing that all have several things in common: they will pique your curiosity, spark your creativity, and compel you to design your own works of art. |

From Fast & Fabulous Scrapbooking Ideas (#4685)
If you need to leave a layout unfinished, put the pieces in a resealable plastic bag for easy access when you're ready to scrap again.
Tickets, programs, and other memorabilia can make instant - and free - embellishments.
Fabric is a fresh substitute for patterned paper. It adds texture and is easy to adhere to your page.

What do painting and cooking have in common? In Teach Yourself to Paint Landscapes, Linda Lover says both require a step-by-step building process. She breaks down the process so that anyone can "build" a landscape painting that is a realistic re-creation of a cherished photograph of a place you'd like to revisit either in person or in memory. |

Plan which side of the picture will be shaded and which will show the light source. Consider this balance in the landscape and arrange the main subject accordingly.
To dot objects such as tiny garden flowers on a vine, use toothpicks, a stylus, the wooden tip of a brush handle, or cotton swabs (with or without the cotton tip).
Cleaning is essential to maintaining your brushes. Brush cleaners are available and can be used following the instructions on the label. Soap and water are also good brush cleaners. Stroke the brush back and forth over a bar of soap and run it under water until no paint is visible. Be sure to clean the brush down to the ferrule (the metal band that binds the bristles to the head). Rinse the brush with clean water and reshape. Stroke the brush back over the soap or add a little hair gel to the bristles to resize the brush. Rinse the sizing out before starting the next painting project.

Just in time for fall, Harvest Home has five wonderful seasonal scenes to paint for home decor. Four feature still life images of pumpkins, pears, and other bountiful fruits and vegetables, and one is devoted to the holiday season, depicting a snowman plate, a carved Canadian goose, crockery, candy canes, and a bowl of ornaments. |
